    Day 1 – 3: Mababe, Comfortable Camping

Your safari adventure begins in Maun, where your guide will meet you at Maun Airport at 14:30. From there, you'll embark on a drive to Mababe. Your first night in Mababe will offer a taste of the incredible experiences ahead.

Arrive at camp just in time for sunset and immerse yourself in the beauty and sounds of this wilderness. Nestled between the southern section of Chobe National Park, Khwai, and the Moremi wildlife areas, Mababe boasts a rich mix of habitats. The winding river channel attracts diverse wildlife during the dry season and thrives with lush grasses after the rains. Acacia woodlands provide shade during the heat of the day, often sheltering herds of elephants, buffalo, and other game species.

Enjoy early morning and afternoon game drives for the best opportunities to witness the raw beauty of this unique area. A night drive offers an entirely different perspective, revealing nocturnal wildlife that thrives under the cover of darkness.

Mababe is part of a private concession managed by the local community. With controls in place to limit visitor numbers, this pristine wilderness offers a truly exclusive experience.

Moremi is a stunning mosaic of waterways, lagoons, floodplains, pans, riverine forests, and woodlands. Its diverse habitats create excellent opportunities for both game viewing and birdwatching.

Daily game drives will reveal the reserve's secrets, offering breathtaking encounters with wildlife. On the second day of your stay, explore the deep water channels of Moremi on a three-hour boat excursion, subject to water levels and environmental conditions. (Meals: B, L, D)

Although this is labeled as a "Camping" trip is is far from the picture camping brings to mind, as this style of safari does not require any form of participation. Tents are 3 x 3 meter dome-type-with En-Suite Facilities. They are big enough so that someone can stand inside. These tents are made from durable rip-stop canvas and have sewn-in groundsheets. They come equipped with sturdy camp beds, mattresses, fitted sheets, pillow, pillowcases and duvets. Other equipment used on safari to enhance guests comfort are camping basins, washstands, hot water bucket showers and water-based toilets. Safari style fold-up chairs and large tables are provided (all meals eaten from the table).  The Back-up team does all the cooking, cleaning and setting-up and breaking camp, so the difficult aspect of camping is taken away! This setup allows guests to get as close to nature, wilderness, plants and animals as possible. The essence is not to insulate guests from the very things they have come to see.
